Dr. Kathryn “Katie” Roberson, PT, DPT
Physical Therapist/ Co-Owner
Katie graduated with her Bachelors degree in Psychology from the University of Georgia. She then completed her graduate studies at Georgia State University where she obtained her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 2011. Katie completed her DPT research in gross motor skill developmental play groups for young children with Down syndrome. She has always had a passion for working with children and knew that pediatrics was the area of Physical Therapy that she wanted to work in. Katie has practiced in both the pediatric outpatient clinical setting as well as in the natural, home environment. She has worked with children from birth to twenty-one years of age with various abilities and diagnoses. Katie has extensive experience with orthotic management and adaptive equipment recommendations. She is versed in the use of Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation, Myofascial Release, Neuro-Developmental Techniques and a variety of other PT modalities. In 2016, Katie and long time friend, Jaclyn acquired Sunshine with the hopes of growing the business and servicing more families in the Atlanta area. Katie’s goal as a Physical Therapist is to help each child reach their highest potential in their home, school and community activities as it relates to movement, function and overall gross motor development. She is a licensed Physical Therapist in the state of Georgia and is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association and the Physical Therapy Association of Georgia. Katie enjoys traveling with her husband, spending time with her dog, Sadie and cooking new recipes!
Dr. Jaclyn Maxwell, PT, DPT
Physical Therapist/ Co-Owner
Jaclyn graduated with a BS in Exercise and Sport Science from The University of Georgia, and later earned her title as a Doctor of Physical Therapy in 2009 at Georgia State University. Jaclyn has worked in a variety of areas of PT, including home health, acute care, outpatient orthopedics, outpatient neurologic (spinal cord injury/ brain injury), and perinatal care. She has taken many relevant continuing education programs to further her knowledge of pediatrics, including "Brain Gym" coursework and reflex integration. She has a particular passion for working with children of all ages and diagnoses and helping them gain confidence with their own abilities. She likes to motivate her clients with creative, individualized sessions which often include games, imaginative play and even art. Jaclyn is especially passionate about orthopedic and neurological conditions as they pertain to children with both acute and chronic diagnoses. She is trained to utilize TENS and NMES in conjunction with manual therapy, therapeutic exercises and neuromuscular reeducation techniques to assist her clients. Outside of work, Jaclyn enjoys spending time with her husband Chris, friends & family as well as her beloved 2 boys and little girl. She loves exercising and maintaining an active lifestyle so she can keep up with her children and young clients.
Dr. Celia Riggins, PT, DPT
Celia attended the University of Georgia and graduated with an Exercise Sport Science degree and a Disability Studies Certificate, hoping to expand and merge her knowledge and ability to advocate for people with disabilities with her love for physical activity. Celia graduated from Mercer University's physical therapy program in 2018 where she met her now husband, Mark. She has experience working with children of all types of abilities in schools, daycares, homes, aquatic and outpatient setting, which has helped make her adaptable to any work environment. Celia enjoys working with, and developing relationships with, children and families to maximize the child's abilities in all of his or her environments. Outside of work, Celia enjoys running, hiking, cuddling her cats, taking road trips, communing with her church family from Blueprint Church, and visiting family and friends in all places. She attributes her love for what she does to her family who has loved and supported her, and Celia desires to do the same for all families she has the joy of working alongside!
Dr. Megan Washburn, PT, DPT
Megan Washburn graduated from Georgia Tech in 2006, and from Emory University's Doctor of Physical Therapy program in 2009. Megan is a Board Certified Specialist in Pediatric Physical Therapy. She has worked at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta in a variety of settings for nine years. She enjoys working with children and their families and collaborating on ways to meet their mobility goals. Outside of work, Megan enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter and two sons.
Kelly Griffith, MS, PT
Kelly practiced as a PT in NC, OH, and MI before moving to GA. Kelly graduated from Wake Forest University with a BS in Exercise Science in 1997. She then earned a MS in Exercise Physiology from UNC-Greensboro in 1999, writing her thesis on Metabolic Specificity in Kids. She furthered her education by completing her Masters degree in Physical Therapy from East Carolina University in 2001. She has worked as a pediatric physical therapist in a variety of settings including the school system, acute care, and outpatient clinics. She has also taught yoga classes for children and holds a 200- hour yoga teacher training certificate. She enjoys working with kids outside of physical therapy and has coached children of all ages in swimming and running. Kelly loves working with children and helping them achieve their fullest potential. She feels that children thrive when given opportunities to succeed. She enjoys the constant energy that her pediatric patients bring to therapy and is passionate about helping them achieve their goals! In her free time, Kelly enjoys running and training for distance races, teaching and practicing yoga, and keeping up with her 3 active boys! As you can guess, we are so excited and honored to have such a passionate and experienced clinician such as Kelly!
Dr. Monique Query, PT, DPT, PCS
Monique graduated with her clinical doctorate in Physical Therapy from Northeastern University in Boston, MA in 2009. Prior to relocating to Atlanta and working at Sunshine, Monique has worked with people across the life spectrum in multiple acute care hospitals in Boston, MA and Manchester, NH for over 12 years. She had the opportunity to complete a pediatric physical therapy residency at Boston Children's Hospital and subsequently acquired her Board Certification as a Pediatric Clinical Specialist in Physical Therapy from the ABPTS. In the past 5 years she has focused on continuing to build her skills in outpatient pediatric clinic settings following experience in the NICU and acute hospital setting. Monique's work experience includes teaching the next generation of PTs as a teaching assistant and adjunct professor in graduate pediatric physical therapy courses, as well as a clinical instructor in the acute care and outpatient settings. Monique has a passion for working with children and their caregivers to empower through education and training in their natural environment. When she is not working, Monique enjoys road biking, cooking, languages, museums, travel, strength training, and playing with her nieces and nephews. She looks forward to meeting your family, and discovering together how to help your loved one thrive through movement!
Dr. Camille Rollins, PT, DPT
Camille graduated from Clemson University with a bachelors degree in Food Science & Human Nutrition. She pursued a Masters degree in Applied Physiology at the University of South Carolina and continued on to Elon University, where she earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2015. She has always had a love for children and knew early on in her collegiate career that pediatrics was her passion. She has pediatric experience in the hospital, post-surgical rehab and outpatient settings that spans a variety of neurological and genetic syndromes, as well as developmental delays. Camille recently moved to the Atlanta area from Greenville, SC and is getting married in June 2019. In her spare time she loves spending time with her friends and family, cooking and running half marathons.
Tina Gawri, MOT, OTR/L
Tina graduated in 2003 from the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia with a Masters in Occupational Therapy. She knew when she was a teenager that she wanted to work with children with special needs. She started as a camp counselor for an all inclusive special needs camp. From there it was quite evident that this was her calling. She pursued other opportunities providing respite care for parents of children with disabilities gaining more experience working with kids with sensory processing difficulties. After graduating, Tina worked in a variety of pediatric settings as an Occupational Therapist. She began her career working in an outpatient pediatric sensory clinic and in schools. She then spent the next 12 years in an inpatient pediatric rehabilitation hospital, eventually becoming the Occupational Therapy Supervisor. Her areas of expertise include pediatrics, splinting/casting, upper extremity rehab, neurological rehab and vision. More recently, Tina has broadened her experience to include working with adults with neurological disorders including brain injuries and spinal cord injuries. Tina is well rounded and compassionate. She definitely likes to put the FUN in FUNCTIONAL. When Tina isn't working she enjoys exploring Atlanta. She enjoys live music, comedy shows and the outdoors.
Catherine Link, MS, OTR/L
Catherine graduated from Georgia Tech in 2004; after living and working in Atlanta for several years, she discovered her true calling and returned to her hometown of Gainesville, GA in 2009 to attend Brenau University's School of Occupational Therapy. In 2012, she received her Master's degree and license in occupational therapy. Catherine brings an unprecedented level of creativity and fun to her sessions that keeps her clients happy and motivated!
Sarah Fain, MOT, OTR/L
Sarah graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from University of Minnesota in 2003 and completed her Master of Occupational Therapy degree in 2006 at University of Washington. Prior to working at Sunshine, Sarah has worked as a pediatric occupational therapist in an outpatient hospital setting for over 14 years and has experience working in a private, community based pediatric outpatient clinic. While working in the hospital, Sarah had the opportunity to complete a pilot research study of an intensive occupational therapy program for children with sensory processing delays and work as a lead therapist in the Cardiac Neurodevelopment Clinic. Sarah’s work experience includes teaching as a clinical instructor to occupational therapy fieldwork students. Sarah has always had a passion for working with children and their families and finds great joy helping children grow and thrive in everyday life. Outside of work, Sarah enjoys reading, baking, running, hiking and spending time with her husband and son. Sarah is a very welcome addition to the Sunshine team!
Rhonda Bachicha, MS, CCC-SLP
Rhonda graduated from Kansas State University with a Master of Science in communication Science & Disorders. Previously, she lived in Houston, Texas and worked as a speech language pathologist in the public school system where she served on an Autism Assessment Team, an Assistive Technology Assessment Team, and provided intervention in a Young Children's Autism Program. Additionally she worked in a private school, The Parish School, for children with language and learning delays. While at The Parish School she conducted individual therapy, taught preschool classes, and held administrative positions of Summer Camp Director and Preschool Level Coordinator. During her time there, she received the Teacher of the Year Award as well as a finalist for the Martel Early Childhood Educator Award, given to Houston area teachers who possess exemplary commitment to educating young children. She loves spending her spare time with her husband, three young daughters, and Labrador Retriever.
Rachel Nemati, MHS, OTR/L
Rachel graduated from Augusta University (Medical College of Georgia) in 2019 with a Master of Health Science in Occupational Therapy. Though Rachel has known occupational therapy was the right path for her since she was in high school, her undergraduate degree in psychology further sparked her interest in sensory processing and trauma-informed care. Rachel is experienced in addressing dysregulation from a sensory-based and trauma-informed perspective. Rachel has had the opportunity to see clients in a wide variety of settings including outpatient pediatrics, school-based therapy, home-based pediatrics, hippotherapy, and critical care. No matter the setting, Rachel’s heart is to come alongside her clients and their families in the messy and beautiful of real life, always aiming to empower families to take on any challenge their daily routine may present. Outside of work, Rachel loves to snuggle with her cats and try new brunch spots with her husband (though not simultaneously)!
Office & Claims Manager
With over 20 years of experience in allied health customer service and claims management, Sabrina graciously joined the Sunshine family in 2018 to share her knowledge as a billing & claims expert, family-therapist liason, and scheduler extraordinaire. Sabrina is an excellent advocate for our beloved Sunshine families and her passionate attention to detail is integral to the interworkings of Sunshine. One of our families stated "I just have to tell you how incredible Sabrina is. You know how many different offices I work with and no one has it together like her!" Don't we know it! Sabrina loves spending time with her family, especially her two beautiful granddaughters. We are honored to work with a true team player.
Annette J. Maxwell
Administrative Office Manager
Annette joined Sunshine shortly after Katie and Jaclyn took on ownership in 2016, thus allowing the therapists to concentrate all of their efforts on their patients. Annette brings many years of accounting and management experience to Sunshine Pediatric Therapy, while working very closely with the therapists in making sure that all phases of the practice are running smoothly. Annette also happens to be Jaclyn's mother in law, which makes Sunshine feel even more like the little "family" it is. Annette is a wonderful addition to our team as we are reliant on her expertise and years of experience as the practice continues to grow.
